Estrodiol
This form of estrogen is made mainly by the ovaries, but is also found in body fat. Estradiol has many effects on the body and is responsible for the development of the uterine lining that prepares a woman’s body for a possible pregnancy. It also helps as an ovarian follicle matures into an egg. Looking at levels of this hormone at differing points in the menstrual cycle can help pinpoint problems with ovulation and the uterine lining.
