I decided to become a nurse later in life. My first career was in the corporate communications field. I also had the joy and privilege of being a stay-at-home mom for many years. I became a nurse because I wanted my working hours to have more meaning and impact on the lives of others. Being a nurse allows you to share in others’ joy and help people through difficult, trying times.

What do you like most about being a nurse at Midwest Fertility?
I feel so blessed to work here at MFS. I appreciate the trust that our patients put in me at such a vulnerable, private and often frustrating time in their life. Their perseverance and dedication to become parents are so inspiring to me. I love the challenge of providing physical care as well as emotional support to our patients and I make every effort to go the extra mile to make their journey positive and hopeful. I have three children whom I spend most of my time with, they are my world. Each have such differing personalities. And bring so much to our lives that I do all that I can for them. I am also getting married soon, so Nicholas also is my focus. But when I do get some down time I love to read romance novels and crime mysteries, watch movies and spend time with the family.
Why did you become a nurse?
I started in college pursuing a Medical Technology degree so that I could work in a lab. The chemistry wore me out, but loved biology. Soon I realized that I did not want to be in a lab with very little hands on patient care, so I stumbled into nursing. I will say that I wasn’t sure that I would love it, but found my niche quickly when I did my OB rotation. That kind of nursing I could do! So I jumped into OB nursing, loved it. I am a caretaker, that is my gift, so I just had to find my niche. I also realized how much teaching there is to do as a nurse and love it. Knowledge empowers the patient so they can better understand what is going on, with knowledge begins understanding of life changing events and then they are equipped to better understand the process.
What do you like most about being a nurse at Midwest Fertility?
I love that it challenges me every day, there is no time to be bored. I like that this is an evolving field but by understanding the basics it all makes sense (the changes). I also love the people I work with, they are my rock and my family. MFS really does care about their patients and their employees! back to top

Why did you become a nurse?
I decided I wanted to go into the medical field around the age of 6. I used to tell everyone that I wanted to be a doctor. When I enrolled in Ball State I kind of just fell into the path of Nursing. I always wanted to specialize in women’s health though and that is where I have been since “92”
What do you like most about being a nurse at Midwest Fertility?
I like being in a position where I can help someone. I also like the fact that we as nurses can hopefully help make a difficult time a little easier for the patient and their families. My ultimate goal is to finish my masters degree in Women’s Health and work in a clinic where I can teach young women about their bodies and provide resources to them that will help them move forward in their lives. I also like working here because I enjoy working with my co-workers. I feel like we work in atmosphere where everyone is willing to pitch in where help is needed. back to top
