Acupuncturist’s Relocation Tightens Relationship With
Fertility Clinic
New offices adjacent to Midwest
Fertility Specialists make alternative therapies more accessible to patients,
while foreign studies suggest acupuncture can significantly improve odds of
conception
Indianapolis, Ind. (September 5, 2007)
– Organic Health Services, an acupuncture practice in Indiana specializing
solely in fertility and pregnancy wellness, has become a more visible and
accessible part of fertility treatment with the opening of its location adjacent
to Midwest Fertility Specialists, the largest single group of reproductive
endocrinologists in Indiana.
“After opening my own practice in 2005, I noticed
that many of my clients were women searching for alternative ways to improve
their chances of getting pregnant,” said David Youran, owner of and
acupuncturist at Organic Health Services. “There are tremendous benefits from
acupuncture for couples experiencing fertility problems, and now that we are
located in the same building as Midwest Fertility, it is even easier for couples
to receive both traditional and more alternative forms of treatment.”
After a four-year training program with Dr. Thomas Duckworth at the Institute of
American Acupuncture and Life Medicine, David Youran became a nationally
certified acupuncturist through the National Certification Commission for
Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). In May 2006, Youran forged a
relationship with Midwest Fertility Specialists and decided to open Organic
Health Services, a center for Reproductive Wellness, offering counseling,
massage, and nutrition counseling services.
Youran’s own parents struggled with fertility for years and were fortunate
enough to benefit from in vitro fertilization (IVF). Youran’s younger sister,
Michelle, was the first baby conceived through IVF in Missouri.
Two teams of researchers in Germany and the People's Republic of China have
found that adding acupuncture to the treatment regimen of women using assisted
reproductive techniques to have a child can dramatically improve the woman's
chances of getting pregnant. According to the study in 2002, the success rate of
women undergoing IVF increased from 26 percent to 43 percent when accompanied by
acupuncture treatments directly before and after IVF.
"Midwest Fertility is excited by our partnership with Organic Health Services,”
said Laura Reuter, M.D., medical director at Midwest Fertility Specialists. “The
proximity of our offices helps to further support our patient’s goals.”
