There are various ways to treat endometriosis. If a person is not trying to have a baby, they might be able to manage their endometriosis with birth control pills.
People with endometriosis often have multiple surgeries. In addition to needing a surgery to diagnose endometriosis, patients often also need surgeries to treat this fertility condition.
The most common surgery for endometriosis is a laparoscopy. This surgery allows the doctor to remove endometrial implants and scar tissue that might interfere with ovulation, fallopian tube access and embryo implantation. Some people need this procedure multiple times throughout their reproductive years.
You can still get pregnant with endometriosis. Some people with endometriosis are able to become pregnant without fertility treatments. Others require expert support to become pregnant. Two common fertility treatments for people with endometriosis are IUI and IVF.
