Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month is a time for those struggling with the loss of a pregnancy or infant to receive support. We understands there are few experiences as difficult as experiencing a miscarriage or the loss of an infant. Honoring this loss while also seeking the care of a support group or a therapist is essential to a person’s healing.

Sources of emotional support

After a miscarriage or the loss of an infant, it’s common for people to have intense emotional pain. This pain can feel overwhelming and make a person feel alone in their grief. However, there are ways to begin the process of healing.

Experiencing each stage of grief. After a miscarriage or infant loss, it’s natural to need to move through the stages of grief, which are shock, denial, anger, bargaining, depression, reconstruction, and acceptance. While it can be normal for a person to want to push away the process of mourning, acknowledging the grief and allowing time and space to experience it can support healing.

Find a support group. One of our main suggestions on Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day is to connect with other people by joining a support group. A support group can help a person feel less isolated and give them helpful resources.

Seek mental health support. Seeking the care of someone like a psychologist or a marriage and family therapist (MFT) can be helpful for those experiencing this type of loss. We partner with Linqcare for convenient virtual sessions. Ask your provider for a referral or call (484) 229-4545 directly to schedule.

How we can help after loss

After moving through the healing process, individuals and couples can turn to our clinic for support. Our fertility specialists can recommend effective tests and treatments to help patients fulfill the dream of parenthood after loss.

Evaluations can lead to the right diagnosis. If a person is having difficulty conceiving after a pregnancy or infant loss, our doctors can recommend various fertility evaluations. Common evaluations include genetic testing, bloodwork, an ultrasound and semen analysis. The results of these tests help our team develop personalized treatment plans.

Effective fertility treatments make parenthood possible. Our clinic provides leading-edge treatments that help patients overcome a range of fertility issues. Patients often conceive a healthy pregnancy through treatments such as IVF and IUI. We also support patients who need donor eggs, donor sperm or a gestational surrogate.
