Melissa & Sam’s Path To Parenthood
When Melissa and Sam got married, they knew like many couples, they wanted to have a child that shared their genetic makeup. But the path to parenthood for Melissa and Sam was not so straightforward.
Before coming to Midwest Fertility Specialists, Melissa and Sam attempted 7 rounds of Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) with another clinic. Both women individually underwent 3-4 intensive rounds of IUI but neither had success getting pregnant. Despite this long and grueling process, they didn’t want to give up hope. Pursuing IVF
“Under Dr. Will’s care, we decided to undergo In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). When the first embryo transfer didn’t take, our thoughts immediately went to the worst-case scenario. But, Dr. Will helped to put us at ease. When she called to talk through our options, it didn’t just feel like a doctor calling. It felt like a friend who genuinely cared. She was so positive, and helped us go into the next transfer feeling confident and positive. It honestly made the experience for us,” shared Melissa.
The Next Chapter
To their surprise, Melissa became pregnant after the very next embryo transfer with their first child, a baby boy.
In looking back on their journey, Melissa shared, “Everyone’s journey is different – from a timing perspective and financially. Hindsight is always 20/20, but I wish we would have started IVF earlier. Undergoing IVF at Midwest Fertility has been such a positive experience for us, I only wish we started sooner.”
