We are proud to welcome Dr. Kate O’Leary to Midwest Fertility Specialists
Patients who visit Midwest Fertility Specialists will notice a new face at our practice. Dr. Kate O’Leary is now treating patients as a Carmel fertility specialist. She comes to us after working as a fertility doctor in Cincinnati, Ohio, and she couldn’t be happier to join our team.
“Everyone at Midwest Fertility Specialists is so passionate about their work. They care about their patients and take the time to get to know them as individuals, not just an infertility diagnosis,” Dr. O’Leary explains. “It’s also great to be in Indiana because it allows me and my husband to be closer to family, which is very important to us.”
This Carmel fertility specialist has always been passionate about women’s health
Dr. Kate O’Leary knew she wanted to provide women’s healthcare. As a result, she attended medical school at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. After that, she completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium (SAUSHEC) at Lackland Air Force Base.
As Dr. O’Leary learned more about reproductive medicine, she found herself drawn to the field. “I love the science as well as the diversity of the practice. Not only do I get to offer leading-edge fertility treatments, but I also get to use my mind to solve complex endocrine problems. I also have the honor of being a part of someone’s journey to have a baby,” she explains.
For these reasons, Dr. O’Leary completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Stanford University. She also earned a Master of Science in Health Services Research from the university.
Prior to joining Midwest Fertility Specialists, this physician provided fertility care in Cincinnati. Before that, she was a lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force and practiced reproductive medicine at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio.
Dr. Kate O’Leary believes in treating the whole person, not just the diagnosis
As a reproductive endocrinologist, Dr. O’Leary feels that patients are much more than just a diagnosis. “I treat the whole person, so I talk about more than just the problem that’s preventing pregnancy,” she explains. “I’ll ask about the patient’s physical wellness and emotional health at the first appointment before working with them to develop a treatment strategy.”
Dr. Kate O’Leary’s approach to fertility care also involves educating her patients. “I want to empower each patient by helping them get to know their body and what’s happening, so they can feel good about their decisions,” she says.
As part of empowering her patients, this Carmel fertility specialist also encourages them to ask questions. According to Dr. O’Leary, “Patients should always feel free to ask questions. I want my patients to feel empowered, so I encourage them to ask questions that range from, “How is this treatment going to help me?” to “What are my options if it doesn’t work?”
