Our Indianapolis fertility center offers LGBTQ family building services that help patients become parents. In honor of Pride Month, we want to discuss the fertility treatments we offer that help gay, lesbian and transgender people start and grow their families. During Pride Month, learn about the LGBTQ family building options at our clinic
Fertility testing is the first step. These tests allow doctors at our Indianapolis fertility center to receive information about the patient’s fertility before they work with them to develop a treatment plan. There are numerous treatments that can support patients in taking the next step towards parenthood.
Intrauterine insemination (IUI) with donor sperm. This treatment involves a doctor using a catheter to insert donor sperm into the patient’s uterus. To prepare, the patient tracks their ovulation before coming to our clinic for the IUI the day after ovulation.
In vitro fertilization (IVF) with donor sperm. IVF with donor sperm consists of a patient with ovaries taking ovulation induction medications. During this time, they receive regular monitoring at our clinic. When enough eggs mature, the doctor retrieves them during a short procedure. Next, an embryologist fertilizes the eggs with donor sperm. The doctor then transfers a resulting embryo into the patient’s uterus.
We also facilitate “reciprocal IVF,” which consists of one partner providing the eggs and the other partner carrying the pregnancy.
IVF with donor eggs. Patients without ovaries can benefit from this LGBTQ family building option. It involves fertilizing donor eggs with sperm from the patient before transferring a resulting embryo to the uterus.
Gestational surrogacy. The doctors at our clinic support patients without a uterus, or those with uterine issues, in connecting with a reputable surrogacy agency. The gestational surrogate that the patient selects carries the pregnancy.
